Being a working mum can be hectic, stressful and tiring. www.workingmums.co.uk aims to relieve some of this stress and be a site that provides information and support at all times.

In particular they have a section called Advice & Support. This does exactly what it says on the tin; it provides advice and support for those of you with part time jobs or who are working from home. The first tab to click on is a Q&A area. Here members of workingmums.co.uk can post their questions and worries and a member of the well-qualified workingmums.com team will respond to it. The most popular question is displayed on screen, whereas other questions you can search for.

The most useful area in this section of the site is the Career Toolkit. It is a collection of articles that will help you develop your current career, proceed with a new one or simply work out if what you are doing is for you. Articles at the present include, Preparing for a second interview: the do’s and dont’s, How to fill in a job application form and How to excel at interview. Each of these stories are in-depth and very clear. They are by no means patronizing and are broad enough so that the advice applies to every working woman.

Similarly the Career Advice is the same layout with articles etc, but it is more subject specific in that it wholly concentrates on career advice, not the ‘froth’ around a career. With the present financial situation it is not any wonder that the featured articles are mainly about dealing with redundancy. Yet again this sensitive subject is dealt with maturity and ease. Other articles include How to work anywhere and How to negotiate a pay rise.

Finally Focus On is the area where companies and stores present articles about their work ethic and how they are the best to be employed by. This may well be full of fabricated ideas and promises, but the more they beg for you to work for them, the more they will be willing to do for you if you decide to join them.

All in all this area of the site is honest and useful. No one needs to go into the worl of work with a false sense of security.
